Excellence in Technology Award

The judges will take into consideration the drivers and demands that the sponsor originally had, and to what extend the applicant has fulfilled and/or surpassed these, in addition to more general factors such as scope of the underlying project/production, quality framework, time-to-market, improvements made, business cost, innovation, additional services provided, structure of the project and communication by the applicant. The unique/creative application of innovation and technology that led to an enhancement in internal and market performance, and a contribution to the industry and society, will also be examined.

Operational Excellence Award

Achievements in enhancing the bottom-line, maximizing customer satisfaction, reducing cost, increasing market share and gaining leadership position though strategic supply chain implementation will be key factors in this award. Measurable components of implementation for business processes along the supply chain through outcomes (stock turns, availability, etc), enablers (S&O Planning) and IT infrastructure (supporting investments) will also be key metrics.

WTG Alumni Supply Chain Innovation Award

Voted for by members of the WTG Alumni, this award aims to promote greater creativity and expansive thinking in supply chain management. It will reward a company that has thought “out of the box” when solving supply chain challenges or optimising supply chain efficiency. Possible areas in which such innovative excellence can be achieved include co-coordinating business functions across the supply chain and developing mutually beneficial ways to strengthen supply chain relationships.

Best Value Chain Provider/Best Supply Chain Solution Provider

The judges will be looking for examples of situations when companies have demonstrated excellence and innovation in addressing a significant supply chain challenge wherein the results can be quantified and proved to be sustainable in terms of cost savings, revenue, customer satisfaction, etc. Aspects of clearly defined service standards and suitable remedies if standards are not met and the ability to provide bespoke solutions for cargos outside the normal product range will be expected.

Best in European Trade Compliance Management

Evidence of managing trade compliance issues and integrating information from different global trading destinations will be assessed, as will compliance with government trade and security procedures and the identification of areas for growth. Also, the ability to keep account of long-distance supply chains, evidence of proactive thinking and being able to exploit connected resources while maintaining a focus on core competencies will also be key considerations.

Best Provider of e-Business Solutions

The award will be given for the best implementation of an operational or business system, for example, to an organisation that can best demonstrate that it has effectively used information technology to create a significant and exploitable competitive or operational advantage in any business or process area. Evidence is required of a well thought-through and executed strategy, addressing not only the deployment of the technology, but also its effective uptake by users and operators. This is not restricted to a full suite of supply chain solutions, and companies may provide specialised warehousing, inventory, transportation solutions or others to be eligible for this award.

Best Logistics Hub Award

The winner of this award will demonstrate unrivalled leadership, consistent high quality service, inspiring innovation, excellent customer relationship management and a high level of reliability. Metrics under consideration will be the variety and usefulness of the product range, clearly set performance standards and clear communication of these standards to the shipper, the satisfactory and timely resolution of problems should the above standards not be met and the effective use of IT systems.

This award is to encourage and recognise companies that make a committed and proactive contribution to the community, be it on a local or global basis, and successfully demonstrate that altruism, philanthropy and employee commitment to "do good" can go a long way towards making an impact on a community, key stakeholders and the bottom line. The programme, project or service must be one that is extraordinary, and above and beyond the primary mission of the company, although it can be related to that mission. Consideration will be given to ongoing and one time programme, projects, or service that have wide ranging benefits and are potentially replicable within the sector.

This Award serves to recognise the achievements of an outstanding individual who has successfully spearheaded and driven supply chain initiatives, taking the company to the next level of excellence. This individual has broad and deep knowledge about the industry and is forward-thinking in their approach to the evolving supply chain issues and challenges. The entrant may have made an individual contribution to the company in driving supply chain initiatives that resulted in a more responsive and efficient supply chain or taken a role in supply chain management and people development within the business.
